“For my eyes have seen your salvation” Luke 2:30

Welcome

Our service today uses prayers from the Church of Scotland, and the sermon is preached by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt Rev Dr Martin Fair.

Opening Prayer

Carol

Joy to the World, recorded in our church. Switch on the subtitles to view the words.

Reading

Luke chapter 2 verses 25-40 read by Jenny Hanslip.

Sermon

The Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt Rev Dr Martin Fair invites us to step back and see the bigger picture.

Carol

We sing together “Who would think that what was needed”, sung by Northallerton Methodist Church Choir, with words on the screen for you to sing along.

Prayers

Let us say together …

Our Father, who art in heaven
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts
as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
forever.
Amen.

Carol

We sing together “It came upon the midnight clear”, the words will appear on the screen as we sing.

Grace

We normally say the words of the Grace to each other. We say them now to whoever is with us, and to everyone we have thought about during this time of worship.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, now and evermore. Amen.

Final music

Intermezzo by Mascagni, recorded in church, back in July.

Notices

With thanks to Rt Rev Martin Fair, Jenny Hanslip, Ramanee Bengough, Ed Muirhead and Bill Mclean.
