Welcome
Our service today looks forward to the end of lockdown, to Easter and the summer, by considering seeds and weeds.
Rev Catriona Morrison opens our service, we sing “We plough the fields and scatter”, and Dorothy Drummond reads from Luke chapter 12 verses 27-31.
With the young
Rev Marc Prowe shares a parable from Luke 8:5-8, told for the children, and we sing “In our lives plant seeds of hope”.
Weeds
Readings from Luke chapter 13 verses 6-9 and 18-19, and Matthew chapter 13 verses 24-30 from Dorothy Drummond, Ruth & Helen Mahood and Moira Stewart. Catriona considers weeds, and Gillian Docherty leads us in prayer. We sing “For the fruits of all creation”.
Seeds
Florence & Gordon read from 1 Corinthians 15 verses 36-44a, we sing “Now the green blade riseth” and “Great is thy Faithfulness”. Marc reflects on seeds, and we pray together.
Final music
A beautiful arrangement of John Rutter’s The Lord Bless You And Keep You by Bobby Goulder who sings it as a one-man choir.
Notices
With thanks to Rev Catriona Morrison, Rev Marc Prowe and all our contributors.
