Students
Welcome to Logie & St John’s (Cross). We’re an evangelical Church of Scotland congregation, who seek to “glorify God by growing in grace & Christ-like character and by seeking to bring others to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord”.
Main emphasis – it would be our prayer that preaching / teaching would equip you for your work and witness as students, and we would value the chance to support you in everything you might have on your plate. We’re very encouraged by the faith of some of you who’ve been coming along, so don’t underestimate the support that you can give a church fellowship just by being part of things.
Our goal would be to integrate students into the life of the church just as much as any other group or demographic, but we do want to be actively and intelligently involved in the needs of your lives as individuals and of the student world as a whole.
We run an e-mail list to keep in touch and we try to keep the church informed about how they can pray for you and any practicalities they can help with too. If you would like to be added to this list then please email student-team@logies.org
Student Lunches
We aim to have a lunch for all the students to have lunch together in someone's home once a month during term time. This usually happens on a Sunday after the morning service and coffee time.
Student Discussions
Students have also been meeting to discuss relevant issues and a Christian perspective on these, on a Sunday evening after the evening service. This happens usually once a month during term time.
Please e-mail student-team@logies.org for more information.
Homegroups
There are Homegroups throughout the city that meet twice a month where we look closely together at the sermon passages and support one another in small group prayer, and there’s a monthly church prayer time as well on the last Thursday of the month. These small groups are open to all, so if you’d like to get to one, please email administrator@logies.org
Getting involved
Beyond that, there are various opportunities to get involved with different ministries if you have the time, from playing an instrument in the band on Sundays; helping make snack and setting up before/ clearing up after Toddlers & Co on Tuesdays & Fridays during the daytime; Who Let the Dads Out? happens on one Saturday a term especially for Dads and their kids; helping out with some of the youth and children’s groups that meet weekly and a week long holiday club in the summer.
Christianity Explored
We want to make it easy for you to use church as part of your outreach and evangelism, so we run regular Christianity Explored courses and hold themed services that provide a tailored opportunity for you to bring friends along.
Finally, if you have more questions about the church, or about Christianity, you can contact our minister David Scott (david@logies.org).
